quality manager

The quality manager has responsibility for the quality assurance department, which includes supervising, training, and educating plant employees on proper quality standards.

essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Supervise and lead the quality team, including hiring, daily supervision, coaching, mentoring, and performing annual reviews.
  • Maintain all daily, weekly, and monthly quality reports for the facility.
  • Assist with implementation and review of SPC measurements.
  • Improve quality defect detection methods to reduce reject rates.
  • Communicate, manage, and close customer complaints.
  • Identify and complete quality improvement projects.
  • Track department performance metrics.
  • Identify deviations and assist with initiating and implementing sustainable corrective actions.
  • When necessary, provide training on the use of root cause, corrective action tools such as 5-why and 8D.

qualifications and skills:

  • A four-year bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in a technical field is preferred.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with the ability to delegate assignments and lead a team.
  • Prior management experience in a fast-paced industrial setting is required.
  • Must be proficient with word processing and spreadsheet development.
  • Must be able to use and understand quality measurement tools such as dial calipers, micrometers, thread gauges, and other electronic measurement tools.
