The security and network administrator is responsible for maintaining and securing the company's network infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance, cybersecurity, and availability of network systems. This role provides technical support to end users, troubleshoots network and security issues, and oversees the implementation and administration of hardware, software, and security systems. The security and network administrator plays a key role in protecting the company’s IT network, enforcing cybersecurity standards, and ensuring compliance with business continuity plans

essential duties and responsibilities: 

  • Install, configure, and maintain the company’s LAN/WAN, wireless networks, routers, switches, firewalls, and VPN connections, ensuring network performance and security.
  • Implement and enforce network security measures following the CIS Controls Framework v8. Continuously monitor the network and systems for vulnerabilities and respond promptly to security threats and incidents.
  • Utilize tools such as ManageEngine Log360 and SentinelOne for threat detection, vulnerability assessments, and security log analysis. Proactively identify, report, and mitigate security incidents.
  • Manage endpoint protection with SentinelOne and email filtering with Trend Micro to safeguard the organization against malware, phishing, and other cyber threats.
  • Implement and manage data backup solutions, including Veeam and CloudAlly, and ensure the effectiveness of disaster recovery plans to protect critical data and minimize downtime in case of cyber incidents.
  • Administer Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and network user accounts with a focus on security, ensuring proper permissions and access controls are maintained.
  • Develop, enforce, and update IT and cybersecurity policies, network configurations, and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance and support security audits. 
  • Use network monitoring tools to track performance, usage, outages, and potential security threats. Conduct periodic assessments to enhance network resilience and improve security posture.
  • Create and maintain accurate records of network configurations, cybersecurity procedures, incident responses, and asset inventory, ensuring up-to-date documentation.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with hardware, software, and network systems, ensuring minimal downtime for users and services.
  • Set up, configure, and maintain Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and network user accounts.
  • Manage IT asset inventory and ensure accurate records of hardware and software assets.

team leadership and management:

  • Manage and supervise a team of helpdesk members, ensuring they are trained, supported, and meeting performance expectations.
  • Provide ongoing guidance to the team, including handling escalated technical issues and ensuring effective resolution.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the team to ensure high levels of customer service and technical performance.

qualifications and requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong understanding of networking protocols and technologies, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPNs, and routing/switching, with a cybersecurity focus.
  • Experience with Cisco Meraki switches, wi-fi access points, and firewalls, particularly in security configuration and monitoring.
  • Proficiency in managing Active Directory and Office 365, including user account creation, permissions, and group policies.
  • Experience with server virtualization using VMware and Microsoft Azure cloud services.
  • Proficiency in cybersecurity software and tools, including SentinelOne, ManageEngine for patch management, and Trend Micro for email security, or similar platforms.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to diagnose, resolve, and document security and network issues effectively.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with attention to detail in security documentation and network management. 

work environment: 

  • This role requires on-site presence five days a week, with occasional after-hours work during system upgrades, security monitoring, maintenance, or emergency situations.
