regional sales manager (backflow) - Eastern USA

The regional sales manager backflow, has overall responsibility for managing the sales activities and channels for Apollo’s backflow prevention products within the assigned region of the eastern and central U.S.

essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Manage and direct regional sales team for Apollo Backflow Products.
  • Create and execute an annual strategic business plan with and communicate it to leadership.
  • Develop and implement clear quarterly and monthly sales plans that support the annual plan for the markets.
  • Pursue and build strong relationships with engineers, end users, backflow installation contractors, owners and distributors.
  • Present backflow products to engineers, owners and contractors via power point, and/or through detailed conversation via teams and face to face.
  • Provide information on servicing needs, installation guidelines and troubleshooting to engineers, owners and contractors.
  • Understand the market and market trends and report up to company leadership.
  • Use Salesforce.com for tracking projects and opportunities and to maintain identity of and summary of interactions with contractors, engineers, end-users, owners etc.
  • Work closely with all other sales groups to share and uncover opportunities.
  • Attend key trade shows/functions, industry meetings and events
  • Willingness to travel daily and overnight as required to manage the assigned geography.
  • At least 50% travel should be expected.

qualifications and requirements:

  • High School Diploma
  • Knowledge of valve and piping systems, products applications, specifications, automation system, industrial manufacturing, mechanical/plumbing contractor, PVF distribution and water works distributors.
  • Experience selling, servicing and/or troubleshooting backflow products.
  • Mechanically inclined.
  • Willingness to learn and develop product knowledge, understand competitive products, a better understanding of various valves and piping systems enhancing the ability to discuss applications and recommend products.
  • Ability to manage large territories.
  • Strong prioritization, planning, reporting, and organizational skills.
  • Detail oriented with constructive and solid judgment.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work constructively in a fast paced, multi-tasking environment. 

 desired skills: 

  • BS/BA in business, marketing, or sales
  • Sales experience which encompassed sales of valves or related industry products.
  • Knowledge of sales channels – distribution, contractor, end-user, specifying engineers, etc.
  • Familiarity with the technical and feature advantages of all Apollo products.
  • Possesses knowledge of competitors’ products.
  • Highly developed professional sales and self-management skills.
  • Relationships or past experiences with backflow parts houses and water works accounts.
