logistics manager (multiple - distribution center manager)

The multiple-logistics/distribution manager is responsible for overseeing the operations of multiple distribution centers, ensuring optimal performance, cost efficiency, and alignment with organizational goals. This role involves managing teams, coordinating logistics, standardizing processes across locations, and driving continuous improvement to support business growth.

essential duties and responsibilities:

  1. operations oversight
    • Manage daily operations across multiple distribution centers, ensuring consistent execution of company policies and objectives.
    • Standardize and optimize processes to achieve operational excellence and efficiency across all sites.
    • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure distribution centers meet performance goals.
  2. strategic planning
    • Develop and implement strategies to improve distribution network efficiency and scalability.
    • Collaborate with senior management to align distribution operations with broader business objectives.
    • Plan capacity and resource allocation for multiple sites based on demand forecasts and seasonal fluctuations.
  3. team leadership
    • Lead and mentor distribution center managers and their teams to achieve high levels of performance and employee engagement.
    • Oversee staffing plans, training programs, and talent development initiatives for all locations.
    • Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement across all distribution centers.
  4. logistics and inventory management
    • Ensure efficient coordination of inbound and outbound logistics to meet customer delivery timelines.
    • Maintain accurate inventory control processes and reporting across all sites.
    • Partner with procurement, sales, and logistics teams to optimize stock levels and reduce costs.
  5. safety and compliance
    • Enforce compliance with all health, safety, and regulatory requirements across multiple facilities.
    • Conduct regular audits and implement corrective actions as needed.
    • Promote a safe working environment and conduct regular safety training programs.
  6. continuous improvement
    • Implement lean principles and continuous improvement methodologies to reduce waste and enhance productivity.
    • Benchmark performance across distribution centers and share best practices to drive consistency.
    • Lead or participate in projects to expand or enhance the distribution network.

qualifications and responsibilities 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s degree is a plus).
  • 7+ years of experience in distribution, logistics, or supply chain management, including multi-site responsibility.
  • Proven leadership experience with large teams and multiple facilities.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making abilities.
  • Proficiency in Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles.ost per unit across all sites.
