engineering manager - industrial

The engineering manager/project engineer, will play a critical role in the design, development, and maintenance of industrial ball valves and valve automation products. This position requires a strong technical background in valve technology, particularly ball valves, along with specific knowledge of national standards such as ASME B16.34 and other industrial product codes. The candidate must also possess a solid understanding of metallurgy as it pertains to valve applications. Excellent communication and collaboration skills are needed to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, in a fast-paced environment.

essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Lead engineering change requests, conducting in-depth research and analysis for modifications to existing ball valve designs.
  • Ensure compliance with national standards, including ASME B16.34, and other relevant codes and standards for industrial products in all aspects of ball valve design, testing, and manufacturing.
  • Manage technical design files, including detailed CAD drawings, product specifications, and compliance documentation.
  • Assist in the development of new industrial ball valve designs using 3D CAD software, focusing on performance, durability, cost-efficiency, and material selection.
  • Develop test reports, assembly procedures, and installation manuals for both new and existing product designs, with an emphasis on compliance with industry and national standards.
  • Generate new bills of materials (BOMs) and collaborate with manufacturing teams to optimize production routings and ensure designs are practical for large-scale production.
  • Work closely with manufacturing teams to ensure the smooth transfer of designs to production, address manufacturability concerns, and support troubleshooting during the production phase.
  • Provide technical product support to internal teams and customers to address inquiries and maintain the performance of existing ball valve product lines.

qualifications and requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
  • Hands-on experience with ball valve design and manufacturing in an industrial setting is strongly preferred.
  • Proven proficiency in 3D CAD software, with experience in creating detailed valve design models and technical documentation.
  • Familiarity with national standards, particularly ASME B16.34, governing the design, testing, and manufacturing of industrial ball valves.
  • Knowledge of metallurgy and material properties relevant to industrial valve applications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across departments, including manufacturing.
