commercial market manager - New England (Western MA, CT, & VT)

The commercial market manager will actively establish the strategic direction for wholesale distribution in an effort to gain market share. This role will be guided and will report to the Northeast regional sales director. Required to create annual strategic business plans, develop regional project tracking logs, and build strong relationships within the community of engineers, contractors, facility managers, and distribution partners. The role is to manage the business for long term year over year growth.

essential duties and responsibilities 

  • Develop annual, quarterly and monthly sales plans for a clear strategy to execute in the markets of responsibility.
  • Entry into for the regional market for tracking for projects, calls to contractors, engineers. Other points of contact and contact names in the assigned regional area.
  • Attend industry meetings, events and trade shows
  • Must have the ability to present products to engineers, owners and contractors via power point and/or through a detailed conversation.
  • Mechanically inclined and has an understanding of various valves and piping systems to discuss applications and recommend products.
  •  A willingness to learn and develop product knowledge and learn competitive products.
  • Understanding the market and market trends to report up to management.
  • Build strong relationships within the distributor, design engineering, plumbing and heating contracts and facility management communities.
  • Able to travel daily to make calls and contacts and some overnights to manage the assigned geography.

qualifications and requirements:

  • BA/Associates degree in business or marketing is a plus, but not required. 5+  years of proven experience in pvf industry working with pvf distributors, contractors and engineers.
  • Knowledge of valve and piping systems, products applications, reading specifications and plans.
  • Jobsite visits for training and managing issues.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and willing to get a little dirty in the field.
  • Ability to manage larger multi-state territories with a diverse customer base.
  • Strong prioritization, planning, reporting, and organization skills.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work constructively in a fast paced, multi-tasking environment.

  • Possesses knowledge of sales channels – distribution, contractor, end-user, specifying engineers, etc.
  • Complete familiarity with the technical and feature advantage of Apollo products.
  • Possesses knowledge of competitors’ products.
