commercial market manager - N. Illinois/Wisconsin

The commercial market manager will actively establish the strategic direction for Manufacturing Reps & Wholesale Distribution in an effort to gain market share. This role will be guided and will report to the Regional Sales Director. Required to create annual strategic business plans, develop regional project tracking logs, and build strong relationships with engineers, contractors, owners, and distributors. The role is to manage the business for long term year over year growth.

essential duties and responsibilites 

  • Develop annual, quarterly and monthly sales plans for a clear strategy to execute in the markets of responsibility.
  • Pursue engineers, owners, & facility engineering and develop long-term relationships.
  • Attend industry meetings and events.
  • Must have the ability to present products to engineers, owners and contractors via power point and/or through a detailed conversation.
  • Mechanically inclined and has an understanding of various valves and piping systems to discuss applications and recommend products. A willingness to learn and develop product knowledge and understand competitive products.
  • Understanding the market and market trends to report up to management.
  • Be able to create annual strategic business plans.
  • Develop regional project tracking logs.
  • Build strong relationships with engineers, EPC, end users, process piping contractors, owners at plant level, and distributors.
  • Willingness to travel daily and some overnights to manage the assigned geography.
  • Entry into Salesforce.com for the regional market for tracking for projects, contractors, engineers and contact names in the commercial areas.
  • Attends key trade shows/functions.

qualifications and requirements:

  • High School Diploma/GED or related experience in business, marketing, or sales, which encompasses sales of valves or related industry products.
  • Knowledge of valve and piping systems, products applications, specifications automation system, industrial manufacturing, mechanical/plumbing contractor and PVF distribution.
  • Strong organizational background and mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to manage large territories.
  • Strong prioritization, planning, reporting, and organization skills.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work constructively in a fast paced, multi-tasking environment.

  • Requires constructive and solid judgments.
  • Possesses knowledge of sales channels – distribution, contractor, end-user, specifying engineers, etc.
  • Complete familiarity with the technical and feature advantage of Apollo products.
  • Possesses knowledge of competitors’ products.
  • Excellent organizational skills, detail oriented.
  • Highly developed professional sales and self-management skills.
